MVD intensifies drive against violation of traffic rules in Jammu district

Initiates strict action against visible offences

JAMMU: Accelerating and intensifying enforcement drive against the instances of overloading and other violations under the Motor Vehicle Act and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, a team of Motor Vehicles Department today conducted massive checking of vehicles in Jammu city and adjoining areas.

Acting under the guidance of Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra, a team laid Naka at Kunjwani on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.

During the Enforcement Drive conducted from 04:45 AM to 10:15 AM, nearly 100 vehicles, including Buses, Tippers and School Buses were checked for different offences viz. Route Permit violations, Overloading, Over speeding, driving without Seat Belt and without SLD. As many as 29 vehicles were challaned/Compounded and an amount of Rs 1.42 lakh was recovered on the spot, while Rs. 0.50 lakh is expected to be realized from the Challans.

The enforcement team consisted of Esha Chib, ARTO, BOI-P, Pawan Kumar Sharma, ARTO, BOI (G), Motor Vehicles Inspectors, Rajeev Kundal and Ranjeev Bhasin.

Meanwhile, awareness programmes on the "MUMKIN" scheme were held at Narwal and Khanpur Nagrota Driving Trial Test grounds under the My Town My Pride campaign.

During the camps, the License Seekers/Drivers/General Public were sensitized about the benefits of the scheme.
