DC Ramban reviews disposal of claims under Forest Rights Act

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, who is also the chairman of District Level Forest Rights Act Committee (DLFRAC), today convened a meeting to review the disposal of claims in the district.

SDM, Banihal Zaheer Abass, SDM Gool, Tanveer-Ul-Majid, DFO Ramban Dr Rajan Singh, All BDOs, Range officer Ramban District, sarpanches, Forest Right Act Committee Chairmen and Secretaries participated in the meeting.

The DFO Ramban- the nodal officer FRA, informed that out of 1081 claims received, 303 have been disposed of so far. He further informed that only 22 claims are pending at DLC level and the rest are pending with FRC.

The cases of each Panchayat were reviewed and bottlenecks/constraints in disposal of the claims at FRC/Gram Sabha were discussed with FRC Sarpanches, Chairmen and Secretaries.

Directions were issued for conducting special Gram Sabhas in the Panchayats, where the claims have been received, to clear the pendency within one-week time. Timelines were fixed for each FRC for disposal of the pending cases.

The Revenue, forest and RDD officials were directed to extend full cooperation in claim verification, conduct of gram sabha etc.
