Horticulture Department Ramban organises Food processing training for women

RAMBAN: The Department of Horticulture Ramban today organized a Training/Demonstration programme on Fruit Processing and Preservation for women here under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav' and as part of ongoing Sheri Jan Abhiyan of "My Town My Pride" Phase-2.

Around 50 women participated in the programme.

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam, graced the occasion and encouraged the participants for acquiring the skills of fruit and Vegetable preservation, which can ultimately fulfill the needs at home scale and establishment of entrepreneurship for economical gains/earnings.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Anil Gorka discussed the huge potential of entrepreneurship in food processing.

He emphasized and invited the participants to come forward for availing the Govt. Schemes like establishment of fruit preservation units under UT CAPEX for which the male entrepreneurs can avail 50% subsidy whereas, females can avail upto 60% subsidy under the UT CAPEX budget.

The expert team headed by Manager-cum-Chemist, Udhampur S. Kamaljeet Singh Sodhi imparted the training and presented the live demonstration among the participants.

Similar Training/Demonstration programme has been organized at Batote town where District Development Council member (DDC) Batote Jagvir Dass presided over the programme.

Large number of participants were present during the programme.
