Training on Registration of Births & Deaths through CRS Portal held at Ramban

RAMBAN: District Administration Ramban, in collaboration with Directorate of Census Operation J&K and Directorate Economics & Statistics J&K, today organised a one Day Training Programme on ‘Registration of Births & Deaths through Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal.

In his inaugural address, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam, highlighted the importance of the programme with regard to the role of newly notified Registrars.

Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Kasturi Lal; District Registrar (Chief Medical Officer), Dr. Kamal Zadu; Additional District Registrar (District Statistics & Evaluation Officer ) Ganesh Kumar attended BDOs, BMOs and other concerned officers and officials attended the training programme.

He further elucidated the need for implementation of Civil Registration System- Registration of Birth & Death Rules- 2022 in the district and said that the data provided by a thorough and up-to-date CRS is critical for socioeconomic modeling.

He also highlighted the utility of Birth and Death Certificates along with the importance of recording the occurrence and the characteristics of the vital events which is subsequently used to study the demographic profile and other features.

Speaking on the occasion, Manmeet Singh, AD Census Operation Directorate, J&K, highlighted the need for implementation of Civil Registration System- Registration of Birth & Death Rules- 2022 in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

During the training programme, SIG 2 Directorate of Census Operation Himanshu gave a detailed presentation on the implementation of the Civil Registration System (Registration of Birth & Death Rules, 2022), duties and responsibilities of registration functionaries.

A detailed future roadmap for shifting to online registration through Web Portal of ORGI for Registration of Births and Deaths and action required to be taken by the line departments for implementation of the Civil Registration System was also talked about through the presentation.

Additional District Registrar Ramban highlighted the use and purpose of Birth and Death Certificates along with the importance of recording the occurrence and the characteristics of the vital events which are subsequently used to study the demographic profile and other features.

He also highlighted the role of local registrars for the issuance of Birth and Death Certificates in the areas falling within their jurisdiction.

Imparting of training to the Master trainers/ participants for switching over to the online Registration of Births and Deaths through CRS Portal was also stressed upon. PRIs were also sensitized during the training session.
