Udhampur Police organise anti-drug Awareness Campaign at Govt Higher secondary School Salmerhi

UDHAMPUR: To generate awareness among students against drug abuse and to make society aware about ill effects of this social evil, Udhampur Police organised an awareness programme here at Government Higher Secondary School Salmerhi.

The programme was organized on the directions of SSP, Udhampur Dr. Vinod Kumar, which was attended by PSI, Pallvi Rajput along with ASI, Ramesh Chander, Devika Sharma (Drug Counsellor), Azra Khan Social Worker of Women Rights Project at Special Cell Women Police Station Udhampur.

Speaking on the occasion, the PSI said that the response/solution to the drug problem requires inclusive and accountable institutions of criminal justice, health and social services to work hand in hand. She also threw light on various aspects of NDPS ACT and the stringent measures taken by Police to curb this menace.

Devika Sharma sensitized the students about the ill effects of drug abuse and advised them to be part of the social awakening process. She also highlighted the importance of drug free society and ill effects of this menace on Youths and society at large.

She urged teachers and parents to keep a close watch on the activities and behaviour of students and be conscious towards them. She advised those affected to avail the facility of drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre DPL Udhampur.

Azra Khan, Social Worker of Women Right Project at Special Cell Women Police Station Udhampur, delivered a detailed lecture on prevention, prohibition, redressal against sexual harassment of women.

The School staff, Students and the parents were also sensitized regarding the rules and regulations to be followed for the empowerment of women in case of sexual harassment.
