GCET Jammu kick started events under the campaign Har Ghar Tiranga

JAMMU: NSS Unit of Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu today kick started week-long events in order to celebrate the upcoming 76th Independence Day under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

These events held under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma.

In her message she told the students that Independence Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth of a free and democratic nation.

India's Independence Day is a deeply inspiring day and a day to revel in the freedom and glory regained by our freedom fighters.

She also exhorted that our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal.

Today's event started with the signature campaign under the banner of Har Ghar Tiranga. More than 50 students and teachers participated in the campaign.

The NSS volunteers and all the students took pledge by their signatures to encourage all the people nearby their surroundings to hoist the National Flag at their houses from 13-15th August.

The whole event was organized by NSS volunteers Sunidhi, Vishwas, Jaanvi, Mohd. Sami, Bhawya, Gazanfar, Rakshant, Sanjeev, Ishmeet, Sameeksha and Jashan under the guidance of NSS P.O Dr. Raman Gupta.

He also told the students that Har Ghar Tiranga' is a campaign to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India's independence.

Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75 years of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building.

The committee members who were present during the signature campaign included Dr. Heer Saini, Dr. Neerupma, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh, Er. Atit Sharma, and Sunil Sharma.
