Mining Secretary holds series of meetings at Udyog Bhavan

JAMMU: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Mining Department, UT of J&K on Wednesday held series of meetings at Udyog Bhavan Complex Jammu wherein Directorate of Mining and J&K Minerals Ltd amongst other offices are located.

Prominent amongst those who participated in these meetings were O.P Bhagat, Director Geology & Mining, Vikram Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, J&K Minerals Ltd, Nisar Ahmed, Joint Director Kashmir and Harbans Lal Langeh, Joint Directors Jammu, Geology & Mining, District Mining Officers of the Department, Drilling & Mineral Officers, Sr Law Officers, Presidents of various Industry Associations of Jammu and others.

Initially, an important meeting was chaired by Secretary Mining Amit Sharma wherein the status of various ongoing legal cases was reviewed thoroughly and directions were given to line departments to submit weekly return on disposal of court cases to the Administrative Department.

It was declared that there shall be zero tolerance in laxity towards adherence to Court Directions and concerned OICs of respective cases shall ensure timely filing of replies in legal matters wherein Director, Geology & Mining and MD, J&K Minerals shall make personal endeavour w.r.t handling of Contempt Cases, if any.

Afterwards, another important review was taken by Mining Secretary Amit Sharma towards implementation of e-Marketplace in Mining Department on the pattern of Amazon and Flipkart wherein prospective buyers can directly purchase minor minerals from lessees, minor mineral dealers and crusher unit holders as per their suitability, location and pricing wherein Department of Mining shall give a suitable e-Platform to do so.

Amit while watching a live demo of the upcoming r-Marketplace portal alongwith all DMOs suggested few important improvisations in same and further directed that mobile application of the same should also be made available on Android and iOS platforms for the convenience of users before the formal launch of e-Marketplace portal within next fortnight.

The last important meeting at Udyog Bhavan was held by Mining Secretary Amit Sharma with Industry Association Presidents from Bari Brahmana, Samba and Kathua wherein all relevant issues and challenges being faced by them were discussed in a threadbare manner and necessary spot directions were issued to the officers of the department especially MD, J&K Minerals Ltd for provisioning gypsum to the relevant industries at the earliest and exploring possibility of stocking same as per industry requirements.

Also, Mining Secretary categorically told Director Geology & Mining to ensure smooth provisioning major & minor minerals to all industrial units so that there is no slump in working of multiple units here which is also the source of employment for many youth in the region.
