GOC reviews situation, operational preparedness of troops on LoC

JAMMU: General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Nagrota-based 16 Corps Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh today visited forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district to review security situation on the LoC and operation preparedness of the troops.

The GOC met Field Commanders and interacted with troops at various forward areas of the LoC in Poonch district to assess the situation.

"Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, GOC White Knight Corps visited forward areas of Poonch and reviewed security situation along the LoC. He appreciated high standard of professionalism and operational preparedness and lauded morale of the troops," a tweet by the PRO Defence Jammu said.

While LoC is calm in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in view of fresh ceasefire agreement between Indo-Pak troops in February 2021, some infiltration attempts do take place on the LoC which have been foiled by the Army.

The ceasefire agreement has been holding on the LoC from both sides, sources said, adding no major violation has been reported from Pakistan side. However, the militant groups are sometimes spotted in launch pads across the LoC.

"A number of infiltration attempts have been foiled on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts," sources said.

Lt Gen Manjinder Singh also interacted with prominent personalities and opinion makers in Surankote tehsil of district Poonch.

A handout said it was an informal interaction in which issues of development of the areas and its people including infrastructure development, social welfare, education, religious harmony and important role played by the Indian Army were discussed.

"Civilian dignitaries lauded the confidence Building Measures of the Indian Army," the handout said.

Sources said the Army-civilian interaction will boost morale of the people in the border areas as well as hinterland.
