Army officer carries her 5-day-old daughter to attend husband's funeral

MUMBAI: It is never easy to cope with the death of your loved one. The armed forces face such losses and face them with utmost courage. An Army officer, who lost her husband in a helicopter crash, is being hailed for her bravery when she suffered such a loss.

A picture of Major Kumud Dogra holding her five-day-old baby and marching on to attend the funeral of her husband Wing Commander D Vats has gone viral. Wing Commander Vats was one of the two Indian Air Force pilots killed when a microlight helicopter crashed near Sumoimari village in Assam last week. His funeral was held a few days ago and a picture of his wife holding their baby, walking up in full uniform to bid him goodbye has touched many hearts on Twitter.

The helicopter crash took place on February 15 when the aircraft was on a routine sortie and was conducting a routine recce after having taken off from IAF station Jorhat. Officials said that the wreckage of the aircraft was located, but it was completely burnt.
