Mansar-Mahoregarh trekking by SMDA tomorrow

JAMMU: Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority (SMDA) in support with Directorate of Tourism, Jammu shall be holding day-long trekking expedition from Mansar lake to Mahoregarh tomorrow.

"Professional trekkers from Tawi Trekkers, J&K and students from Government Degree College Udhampur, Government Higher Secondary School Mansar along with individuals adventure enthusiasts shall trek from lake destination to famous Afghan-Mughal fort of Mahoregarh passing through Pine forests, ravines, open fields and over ridgelines," Chief Executive Officer (CEO), SMDA, Nagender Jamwal told SAN.

The trekkers have been asked to report at the JKTDC lawns Mansar at 9.30 am for flag off ceremony by the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Udhampur, Ravinder Singh Dangi, who himself is a avid trekker at 10.30 am.

"During the trek, the participants shall witness to blue Mansar lake and its avian fauna. The event (trekking) is being organised to give fillip to the outdoor adventure activities as also an opportunity to the city dwellers to enjoy the nature at its best," further said the CEO.

The event is also being attended by travel agents, adventure planners and mangers to assess the potential of adventure tourism in Surinsar Mansar areas.

"The Authority has also planned Heritage walk at Babore temple complex, an early medieval temple site maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), to commemorate World Heritage Week next Sunday," disclosed Jamwal.
