Amit tours FCS&CA Stores, reviews departmental functioning

JAMMU: Amit Sharma, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Jammu today conducted a field tour of major food store of the department alongwith his team to ensure the availability of adequate foodgrains for smooth transportation to various districts of Jammu division during the ensuing winter season.

The team accompanying the Director included Pawan Sharma, Joint Director (Administration), Kulraj Singh, Deputy Director (Food & Rationing), Ghulam Mohiudin Storekeeper, Mohd Bashir and others.

During the tour of Food Store, Chatha Satwari, Director FCS&CA Amit Sharma pointed out lot of issues including conduct of repairs and renovation work in this most important store on top priority basis, arrival at a decision for dispensation or defunct and rotten old food grain stocks involved in an old dispute by the concerned Committee, requesting Food Corporation of India to provide two vacant sheds to FCS&CA department for temporary storage of foodgrains during repair phase, building-up road and related infrastructure, installation of webcams with night vision for 24x7 surveillance of movement of stocks, strict implementation of FIFO inventory management mechanism in all stores of department.

After concluding this tour, Director FCS&CA Amit Sharma held a comprehensive monthly review meeting with all Assistant Directors of the department functioning in ten districts of Jammu division in which Project Management Unit Consultant Dr Imran Khan also joined alongwith representatives of Linkwell Systems, who have provided POS Machines to the department.

Apart from ensuring submission of routine reports, Director took a decision to fix direct responsibility at TSO/Area Inspector Level for removing mismatch between allocation and distribution of foodgrains in all the districts so as to ensure that all ration and civil supplies reach smoothly through online allocation to all legitimate ration card holders, strictly as prescribed under National Food Safety Act.

Apart from this, Director Amit Sharma issued advisories for regular disposal of Court Cases, revival of Supply Chain Management System with an active support of Department PMU, Data Correction Exercises with the support of District Committees, Completion of Aadhaar Seeding in a time-bound manner, full implementation of ePDS system, issuance of licenses to Fair Price Shop owners under fixed format, streamlining issuance and renewal of licenses to SKO retailers and wholesalers, organising Price Control Mechanism Committee Meetings in near future were taken-up.

All Section Heads such as Chief Accounts Officer, Deputy Director Planning, Legal Assistant, Deputy Director Supplies, Deputy Director Food & Rationing also mentioned their issues which were discussed threadbare and time-bound solutions were finalised in the review meeting with a resolve to ensure timely provision of food and civil supplies to the beneficiaries as per the directions and standing instructions of administration given in this behalf from time to time.
