DIG JSK Range reviews law & order situation, election preparedness in district Samba

SAMBA: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, JSK (Jammu-Samba-Kathua) Range, Dr Sunil Gupta presided over a comprehensive preparedness of Lok Sabha elections/law and order and crime review meeting at DPO Samba.

The meeting saw the participation of SSP Samba, Additional SP Samba, Deputy SP DAR Samba, all SDPOs and Station House Officers (SHOs) of the district. During the session, SSP Samba Vinay Sharma briefed the participants about overall current crime and law and order landscape of the district.

The DIG JSK Range stressed the need for special efforts to expedite the resolution of under-investigation cases including backlog cases, inquest proceedings and firm action against drug peddlers and other anti-social elements.

Addressing the issue of drugs, the DIG called for intensified efforts to identify and dismantle the networks of the illicit drug trade, emphasizing the importance of eradicating this societal threat. He directed all SHOs to maintain the list of drug addicts and peddlers at Police Station level. They were also asked to identify the properties of drug peddlers and gangsters, and seize/demolish the same.

The officers were directed to enhance surveillance by maintaining area domination, strengthening Nakas along with CCTV surveillance in view of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Instructions were given to increase the installation of CCTV cameras with proper record-keeping to monitor the activities of miscreants.

The meeting concluded with the issuance of necessary directives to ensure the effective implementation of the discussed strategies for reducing pendency of under investigation cases, time bound disposal of complaints, controlling drug menace, vehicle theft, burglaries and maintaining peaceful atmosphere in the District.

Meanwhile, the DIG also paid a surprise visit to Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu in Jammu and conducted casual inspection of the Police Station. He inspected the MHC Room, Malkhana and Hawalat. He also checked Mahila Desk Register, Cyber Register, NCR Register, Tyohar Register, NDPS Register, Land dispute Register etc., and found most of the record not maintained properly.

He instructed the SHO of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu to maintain extra vigil in their area of responsibility in view of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. He directed the SHO for redressal of public grievances in a time bound manner and special focus be given towards female complainants, NDPS/Road Accident/Land dispute cases, etc.

The DIG also gave necessary directions to SHO/officers/officials of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu for strengthening of Beat system of Police Station.
